Frequently Asked Questions
After booking your treatment, you will be sent a consultation form to fill in before your appointment. I'll review this before you arrive, then during your first visit, we'll briefly discuss your health history and any areas of concern. You'll have privacy to undress to your comfort level and lie on the massage table under a towel. Only the area being worked on will be exposed at any time. Your massage will include long, flowing strokes, kneading, and gentle stretching. Communication is encouraged – please let me know if you'd like adjustments to pressure or technique.
You can undress to your comfort level. Most people leave on their underwear or undress completely, but it is up to you. You'll be professionally draped with towels throughout the massage, with only the area being worked on exposed.
As a neurodivergent-friendly space, and an autistic woman, I'm more than happy to make adjustments for you. This might include keeping lights dimmed or brighter, playing specific music or working in silence, using unscented products, or taking breaks as needed. Please share your preferences when booking or at any time during your session.
Yes, and I will undertake a full consultation before your treatment to ensure it is safe for you. Certain medical conditions may require modifications or doctor's clearance. If you are unsure before booking, please contact me so we can discuss any health concerns to ensure massage is safe and beneficial for you.
Absolutely, and you're not alone! Many people feel nervous before their first massage (or even before every massage). These feelings are completely valid and normal. Please know that this is a judgment-free, professional space where your comfort is my priority. We can start slowly, keep conversation to whatever level you prefer, and you're always in control – you can ask for adjustments or even stop at any time. Most people feel much more comfortable on subsequent appointments with the same person. If it helps, feel free to share your concerns when booking or at the start of your appointment so I can take extra care to help you feel at ease.
Massage has a physiological effect on the body, so it is important to follow aftercare in order to get the best results from your treatment.
For the first 24 hours after a massage it is important to avoid strenuous exercise and get enough rest to allow the body to properly recover. It is normal to sometimes have some muscle pain during this period, and you may find a warm bath or shower will help with this.
Hydrating you body during this period will aid in flushing out the toxins released during massage. A massage will stimulate the lymphatic system, promoting lymphatic drainage, so it is normal to urinate more frequently in the day following a massage, so please stay well hydrated and avoid stimulants (such as caffeine or alcohol) during this time.
